Everyone loves Lily of the Valley. The thick scent wafting from the small bell like blooms the mid spring. The blooms reach an average height of 25cm, with the deep green foliage emerging along side the blooms.

Lily of the Valley are supplied as pips, looking somewhat like a match stick. Along this thick root, there will be small growth nodes (pips) where the plant will grow from. A key when starting out with Lily of the Valley is not to plant it to deep!
Prepare your ground to a depth of 25cm, in a shaded to partly shaded position. Lie the pips horizontal and cover by no more than 2cm of soil...not kidding. The pips should be just under the soil level.
Lily of the valley likes a free draining position and a lot of organic material in its growth area, manures are also permissible - however, lily of the valley does not like lime and should be planted in an area where little lime is encountered. (e.g., not in the same bed as Peonies)
Lily of the Valley is winter dormant, and can be harvested and spread around over the winter months.
